Darren Palmer is the Global Product Development Director for battery electric vehicles for Ford and Lincoln. He heads up product development of an $11.5 billion portfolio of battery electric cars and is a founding member of Team Edison. A start-up created within the company, introduced to accelerate development of electric vehicles, infrastructure and services.
Most recently Darren has been launching the first product in the portfolio, the Mustang Mach-E. A global product at the very forefront of the transition to Zero emission vehicles. Close behind are the launch of the Transit BEV and the F150 BEV. Both intended to be leaders in their respective fields.
His area of interest is in developing highly customer focused product propositions that customers fall in love with. Then inspiring large and diverse teams spread across multiple continents to deliver to markets world-wide. Examples include multiple global award-winning products such as Ford Explorer, Fiesta, Ecosport, Kuga/Escape, Ka+, Focus, Puma, SMax, Mustang and Transit.
He has amassed significant experience in global vehicle development, having held positions in Product Development, Product Planning, Manufacturing and Quality, in the UK, Germany, United States and through regular global travel to South America, China, India and Australia.
Palmer is an Automotive News ‘Rising Star’ and has used this status to build a global network of industry colleagues.
He holds an MBA from Henley Management College, England, an Electrical, Electronics and Technology Degree from Birmingham University in England and is a Member of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET).
