As the energy storage market continues to grow, manufacturers struggle with the regulatory issues facing them every day. These hurdles can be time consuming and expensive to overcome. A relatively new requirement in the US is NFPA 855, the standard for installation of stationary energy storage systems. NFPA 855 was published on August 25 of 2019. Although publication does not necessarily mandate industry compliance, many jurisdictions are planning or already have started enforcing NFPA 855. In this presentation, we will review the scope of NFPA 855 and how the requirements apply to different systems to assist manufacturers of Energy Storage Systems in getting their products to market quickly amid the regulatory hurdles.

After attending this presentation, the viewer will have a solid understanding of the fundamental requirements of the fire code for energy storage systems, and will learn where to go to investigate detailed requirements.

Intended Audience

Energy Storage System manufacturers, integrators and code authorities will benefit from this presentation as it will provide them with a general understanding of the requirements in NFPA 855.
