As the EV industry matures and autonomous fleets utilize advances in electrification, fleet operators will have a moral, environmental, and fiscal obligation to maximize high voltage battery life in their fleets. During this presentation, we will identify some of the major contributors to EV battery degradation that fleet operators must understand to optimize battery life in their vehicles. Fleet operators with full autonomy over vehicle operations and vehicle lifecycle will be strategically well-positioned to optimize battery life across the major levers that contribute to battery degradation. Ultimately, transitioning future AV fleets to electric vehicles will make our roads safer and our environment cleaner.
Attendees will learn about the operational levers for extending HV battery life in an electric, autonomous fleet. There is an intricate balance that must be optimized between all of the levers, which will depend on many important operational factors such as vehicle power draw, operational efficiencies, energy cost, and battery cost.
Intended audience is fleet operators (for understanding how to optimize battery life), battery manufacturers (for understanding the importance of battery life optimization), vehicle suppliers (to show why limiting power draw in electric AVs is critical), and general audiences for understanding the impact of electrification in autonomous vehicles.
